About the Author
As a child, Barbara Longley moved frequently, learning early on how to entertain herself with stories. Adulthood didn’t tame her peripatetic ways: she has lived on an Appalachian commune, taught on an Indian reservation, and traveled the country from coast to coast. After having children of her own, she decided to try staying put, choosing Minnesota as her home. By day, she puts her master’s degree in special education to use teaching elementary school. By night, she explores all things mythical, paranormal, and newsworthy, channeling what she learns into her writing.

Another Perfect (Indiana) story

This is the second sweet romance taking place in Perfect, Indiana. Like the first, it's about a war veteran with PTSD who's trying to cope with life after recovering from his physical injuries. Ryan Malloy went into the army to cope with a tragedy in his life, and then had the experience of being one of the few survivors of a suicide bomber. In despair and at the end of his rope, he suddenly gets a call from his former lieutenant, Noah Langford (the hero of the first book) offering him a job. He jumps at the chance and comes to Perfect. Noah's sister, Paige, has just lost her job in Philadelphia after a betrayal by her boyfriend, and arrives in Perfect just in time to see Ryan at his worst. The two connect, but Paige's ambitions seem to limit any relationship between them. Paige and Ryan are interesting people and the romance between them is an enjoyable read. While this is a pleasant romance, however, it suffers in comparison to the first in the series. For one thing, the story is very similar, without some of the more original character touches in the first book. What's also missing are the involving secondary characters in the town of Perfect, which gave that story more depth. Longley has a knack for giving dimension even to characters only seen briefly so that we want to see more of them. I suppose that makes this a backward compliment in that I felt cheated of those people I expected to see more of. There is another book planned, and hopefully more of the folks of Perfect will show up in it. All in all, I'd recommend this one as pleasant, if unoriginal.

too much sex

there was far too much sex content that took away from a book that could have been far more enjoyable. The story line was good.

Unlike others I was not impressed - at all - an average book at best

Unfortunately I guess I expected too much and it is a typical romance. Fluff content and an unlikely, happily ever after ending. Come on - how many of those abusing alcohol magically quit when they go to a VA counselor? Statistically only 15 percent of drinkers successfully stop and then it is usually the battle of their lives.
PTSD is not so easily treated, I am sorry to say and it does not go away just because you have someone who loves you - if it did it would not be such an issue with those who return from war to their loved ones. I suppose with such a novel you are supposed to check your brain at the door and enjoy - sorry I couldn't.
The author begins in suicidal contemplations rather than giving the reader any reason to care about the character first.
The author also built sexual tension to a high level and then utterly failed in the sex scenes to bring it to any conclusion. Sex is supposed to alter charaters in the story and it didn't in this book - in fact they had sex so early that what could have been a life altering act was simply wasted lust. Compared to the sexual tension created the sex is anticlimatic and disappointing.
I guess I am just not suited for such "romance" novels. I expect the same quality writing as any other book and here they are clearly lacking
