Beautifully written

Author Melissa Lummis' debut novel Enlightened is nothing short of amazing. I found myself drawn into Loti's world right off the bat. Her journey was enthralling.I'm a sucker for a good witch/vampire story, this for sure did not disappoint. But be warned, if you're looking for a formulaic story that's been told time and time again, this book is not for you. Be prepared to fall in love with Melissa Lummis and the world she has created. I very much look forward to the sequel to this book, because I have to know what is going to happen next!

It's like no other book I have read...and I LIKED IT!

My Review: 5 Stars, 3 Flames
When I read that Enlightened (Love and Light Series) was kind of in the Yoga/Hippy/Guru business, I was not at all sure about reading this book even though it has my beloved Vampires in it. Boy am I glad that I did not walk away because Enlightened is like no other book I have read...and I LIKED IT! Basically, Melissa takes your hand and pulls you into her version of the supernatural world...and it's a series! ;) Beware though because once you start reading it, you will not be able to stop! Yes, it is that intriguing.
The Good: Loti is not only the primary character but she is an exciting and fresh one. She was incredibly relatable. The secondary characters help the story progress and Loti to grow. I loved being surprised each time I turned a page and found some new and dramatic event. I really enjoyed how Melissa interwove some Ghandi quotes as well. It somehow seemed, well, right to have them in this story. I also loved the ending. It felt complete when I finished it but not without some ready tie-ins for the next book in the series. This was just some incredibly good writing.
The Bad: Bad? What bad? I literally have no complaints.
The Snuggly: Wolf and Loti falling in love is a very tender and emotional story. Their feelings for one another draw you into their love as well, in a way I have not previously experienced. It is a truly special event. And the sex? Oh the sex was just fine, thank you very much. Descriptive without being raunchy, it is an important piece of the puzzle for Loti and Wolf.
The Rest: As a debut book for author Melissa Lummis, I was unprepared for the depth of character and creative thinking that I found in Enlightened. It is a book that can be read over and over and I am sure will never become dull. I would not recommend this for anyone under 18 but the rest of your paranormal romance lovers out there,this is most certainly the book for you! 5 Stars, 3 Flames

Mostly Eastern Metaphysics

If new age Eastern Yoga and Earth magic is your thing, then this book is for you. I did appreciate the overall goodness of what little vampire action was in the book but felt the attack on the female camper was totally out of character even if she was left alive. Nothing was said to explain the reason he had to take her blood...it made no sense to me. This was not my cup of tea (or blood).
